Aria The Ballerina

Aria’s mommy grew up at the ballet studio.  From the time she was two years old until the present time, she has danced.

Image

Aria’s love for dance, I feel, has exceeded her mommy’s, if that is possible.Image

Wherever we are Aria is dancing.Image

She is always practicing her technique and Aria’s mommy is always at hand to help her and to correct her position.

Image

I am grateful that after all the years of watching Andrea dance, we are still making our way to the ballet to see Aria.

This is one proud mammy!

Let them praise His name with the dance.  Psalm 149:3a

Grinding Grain and Making Bread

After reading the book ‘The Little Red Hen’, Aria and I decided to grind our own grain and make bread.

Image

I didn’t really make her grind the grain by hand, I used my grinder.Image

But she had fun trying.

Image

Making bread is such fun,Image

especially when you make it with somebody you love.

Image

Who doesn’t love to knead the dough?

Image

Ready for the oven.

Image

The house is smelling pretty yummy!

Image

Done!

Image

So excited to get to taste the bread.

ImageImage

Delicious!

You provide their grain, for so You have prepared it.  Psalm 65:9b

I Will Lift Up My Eyes

I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help?Image

My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.Image

He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber.Image

Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.Image

The Lord is your keeper;  The Lord is your shade at your right hand.Image

The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night.Image

The Lord shall preserve you from all evil: He shall preserve your soul.

The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.     Psalm 121

Thank you Lord!

Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.  Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgments are a great deep; O Lord, You preserve man and beast.  Psalm 36:5-6

Baby Girl Sick

It’s been a hard week.Image

The tummy bug hit Aria.

Image

Five days of throwing up and feeling bad.

Image

Fluids have been forced and eating has been very minimal.

Image

An extraordinary supply of prayers and petitions have been lifted up.

The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed.         Psalm 41:3

The Garden

Every spring, gumps and Aria team up to plant the garden.  ImageImage

Gumps has spent a lot of time preparing the soil for this much treasured time with his favorite play mate.

ImageImage

This is a very serious job for both gumps and Aria.ImageImage

They work diligently in anticipation of the harvest that will follow.Image

Thoughts of fresh, red ripe tomatoes, crisp green peppers and sweet onions that can be picked and ate right out of the ground push on their efforts.ImageImage

This small brigade will spend the next few months fighting the persistent weeds and the insects that will threaten their hard labor.ImageImage

Every trip to mammy and gumps’ house will find Aria checking on their precious tomatoes. She carefully inspects them with expectation for some kind of growth (sometimes everyday).Image

Image

There is always a little time to spare . . .

Image

to check on the neighbors.

Image

or to tell secrets.

Image

But they always finish the task at hand with time to spare for play.

In the end, they will loose the battle against the weeds, and the grasshoppers. Tiny inch worms will fill their belly’s with more of the much beloved crop that will gumps and Aria. The Texas summer heat will suck the life and moisture from the earth and the crops will whither before their eyes.

Image

But, gumps has already started the preparations necessary for the planting of the next spring crops.

Yes, they do get to sample a few tomatoes and peppers achieved from all their efforts.

Image

But . . . the real harvest comes from the planting in the heart.

Jesus said to them,  “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.  “Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!”  John 4:34-35

Log Cabin Village

Tucked into the center of the hustle and bustle of busy Fort Worth Texas is a place that will transport you back into time. The Log Cabin Village is Fort Worth’s living history museum.Image

The village is devoted to the preservation of Texas heritage of the 19th century.Image

The village is filled with structures of the north Texas area from the pioneer era dating from 1840-1890.

  Image

Within the confines of the village you can step back into time and experience the past. The hands on arts and crafts give you a sense of the life of the pioneers.

Image

Stocked inside the general mercantile store are books and crafts that take you across the century’s and the sweet treats that the pioneers would have considered to be for a  special occasion.

Image

School is in session and the children sing songs of old.Image

You can peer into the actual homes of the Texas pioneers.Image

Participation is encouraged as they recreate the trades of the pioneers.Image

Inside the schoolhouse you can experience the everyday life of a pioneer child.Image

The Marine school was built in 1872 on North Side, Fort Worth Texas.

ImageImage

Below, the Shaw cabin and Gristmill was built in Parker county in 1854.

Image

ImageImage

At the Thompkins Cabin, built in 1853 in Weatherford, Texas, you can experience candle dipping first hand.  The candles are then put into the general mercantile store  to sell.

Ah yes, and there is a spinning wheel!Image

A pioneer girl’s work is never done.

ImageImageImageImageImage

But at last, there is time to play a game of checkers.

ImageImage

An amazing experience for my girls and myself. Lost in the 1800’s.

I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your works; I muse on the work of You hands.        Psalm 143:5

This is simply a place for me to record and share with others some of the things God is teaching me and doing in my life and the lives of those around me. I pray it glorifies God and encourages others.
