Yuka Sweater Pattern

Another wonderful pattern by Svetlana Volkova, the Yuka pattern.

IMG_2009IMG_2010IMG_2011

This is the second of three patterns that I purchased from Svetlana Volkova. Check out her awesome patterns on Ravelry.

IMG_2012IMG_2013

I absolutely love everything about this pattern. It has cables (a favorite of mine) everywhere! The sleeve cuffs are trimmed with cables at the top of the ribbed stitches.

IMG_2021IMG_2057

The back edge is longer than the front and also has the cable at the top of the extended 2×2 ribbed pattern.

IMG_2018IMG_2019IMG_2060

There are cables that run triangular at the top of the bodice, meeting at the neck center and separating the sleeves.

IMG_2030IMG_2055IMG_2058IMG_2028

The yarn is I love this yarn purchased at Hobby Lobby and Aria chose the red color.

Let me introduce you to an amazing designer,  Svetlana Volkova from Tweedysheep. You can find her at her Raverly store here.

Tweedysheep has become my favorite pattern store. Her patterns are unique, doable and most definitely beautiful.  You will be seeing more of her awesome patterns on here.

IMG_9625IMG_9629IMG_9623

I will confess that this pattern intimidated me and it certainly took my full attention at times, but I was determined to knit it. I discovered that it was not as hard as it looked and actually came together nicely. The pattern instructions were very clear and I had no problems following them.

IMG_9630IMG_9643IMG_9650

This sweater has a gorgeous lace pattern that flows from the neck line down the sleeves. The collar, cuffs and bottom hem are ribbed.

IMG_9638IMG_9630

The lace pattern also runs up the entire back of the sweater.

IMG_9631IMG_9634IMG_9633

Now, I would like to say that I am a yarn snob, and I really am one in my heart, but I have to be practical when knitting for my grandchildren. I can not afford to spend $20-$30 on just one skein of yarn, especially when most patterns take several skeins. I also want them to actually wear what I knit them and it’s a little scary to wear something that you know cost a ton to make, took a long time to make, and can only be washed by hand and laid out to dry. I want them to enjoy wearing what I knit them and not worry about getting it dirty or spilling something on it. So I once again used my go-to yarn, I Love This Yarn, purchased at Hobby Lobby at just $3.66 a skein. This sweater took less than 2 skeins.

IMG_9645IMG_9624IMG_9650

I will be knitting a second sweater in this pattern, in a larger size. But for now I am working on another wonderful pattern from Tweedysheep, with yet another in the next in line pattern pile.

Finley Pixie Hat

I began my search to find the perfect prayer bonnet and I knew as soon as I saw this pattern that it was it! You can find the adorable little pixie hat pattern here.

My little prayer recipient shares the same name as the pattern, Finley.

IMG_9595IMG_9599

This precious hat is knitted in a seed stitch, with a ribbed band framing the face.

IMG_9601IMG_9602

Once again I used I Love This Yarn, purchased at Hobby Lobby in a bright pink color.

IMG_9612IMG_9613

I understand that it seems like an usual gift to give in the hot summer time, but come winter, my sweet little Finley will not only be covered with warmth and love, she will be covered with our Lord’s promises and blessings, being poured out over her, flowing down throughout her whole life.  May our Lord bless her and keep her and make His perfect, beautiful face shine upon her.

IMG_9606

Many thanks to my granddaughter Aniyah for modeling this very warm hat in the summer.

Knitted Short Overalls

If you or anyone you know is expecting a baby, or if you need a knitted gift idea, you have to check out this ETSY store! The patterns are priced very reasonable, and they are wonderful knitting patterns. They have everything from bonnets to overalls, swaddle sacks to blankets and much more.

This is the pattern that I used to knit this cabled short overall set for beautiful little Molly.

IMG_6399

I love love love the cables!

IMG_6398IMG_6396

I embellished the top with some gathered lace and topped it with a decorative button.

IMG_6395IMG_6397

I used the same yarn, lace and button to make her prayer bonnet.

The Prayer Bonnet

Things begin to look a little different when you are standing on this side of life. Growing older makes your prospective grow a little deeper and a little wider. You just see things different. Looking through the eyes of faith sharpens your spiritual senses and you wonder what truly matters. The here and now verses the forever, and the treasures on earth verses treasures in Heaven. And it’s a regrouping and I search for ways to store up those treasures in Heaven.

IMG_2530IMG_2665IMG_5596

I have come to a place where I am such a rebel. I totally do not like to shop from gift registries. Baby showers have become a struggle for me. I want to spend more then just money on the precious miracles from our Lord. I want to give more then just buying from a list.

IMG_5595IMG_5604IMG_5933

And so, what I believe is from the Lord I have decided to cover them with prayer. To completely cover them with something that will last for eternity. A treasure trove of prayers in a storehouse in Heaven that will last them their whole life through. A prayer covering in a form of a head covering. A prayer bonnet.

IMG_5941IMG_6340IMG_6434IMG_6444

So I knit, and I pray.

Ewa Knitted Vest

One of my favorite things to knit for my girls is a vest. It usually knits up fast and is very versatile. It is a warm core covering in the cold weather, but also works well in warmer weather. It also allows me to stretch myself and experiment with different stitches without fear of wasting too much yarn, or time! So when I saw the Ewa knitted vest I knew I just had to go for it. This vest is my first attempt at knitting a leaf pattern. You can find the Ewa pattern here:

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ewa-in-english

IMG_5289IMG_5290IMG_5296

This vest is knitted in the round. It has a knitted leaf pattern on the bottom front and back. A garter stitch is knitted for the yoke and bottom edge.

IMG_5298IMG_5306IMG_5309IMG_5311

Three buttons with crochet loops close up the top front.

IMG_5312IMG_5318IMG_5321IMG_5325

Once again I used I Love This yarn from Hobby Lobby. Now I will admit that I love wonderful yarn, but when it comes to children’s clothing you just can’t beat the wash and wear $3.99 for 355 yards, and you can usually find it on sale. It is 100% acrylic, but it is very soft and knits up easy.

IMG_5327IMG_5338IMG_5344

Under the knitted vest is a downloadable dress pattern from etsy. You can find it here:

https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/105616835/girls-dress-pattern-pdf-childrens-sewing?ref=shop_home_feat_2

IMG_5356IMG_5362IMG_5363IMG_5365

This pattern was super fast and easy. I did not add the big bow on the shoulder because I wanted her to be able to wear it under the vest.

IMG_5367IMG_5375IMG_5378IMG_5382

This dress pattern has a big turtle neck and gathered bell bottom sleeves. The fabric is a soft fleece purchased a Hobby Lobby a few years ago. It has big, bold, chunky colors that I absolutely love. Perfect for my sweet and cuddly girl!

The Leksak Sweater

I absolutely love everything about this sweater!

IMG_3566IMG_3588IMG_3608

This little gem is open in the front with a garter stitch trim going up both sides. It is a pullover with 3/4 sleeves.

IMG_3569IMG_3616IMG_3626IMG_3627

It was super easy to knit even though you have to pick up stitches to connect the front of the sweater and to make the front trim. The pattern was very clear and simple to follow and I truly enjoyed knitting it.

IMG_3629IMG_3636IMG_3644

I knitted Aniyah’s sweater in an off-white color in I Love This Yarn, purchased at Hobby Lobby. Aria picked out her lilac purple color, also made out of I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby.

IMG_3647IMG_3611IMG_3658

I purchased Aniyah’s outfit but added a layer of netting to the bottom of her shirt.

IMG_3665IMG_3701IMG_3708IMG_3711

I made Aria’s leggings out of a deep eggplant knit. Her dress is a Burda pattern made out of a light purple polka dot gauze.

IMG_3658IMG_3688IMG_3690IMG_3682

You can get this amazing pattern here, along with many others!

Pattern: Leksak

I am headed over there right now and check out the rest of their patterns. Happy Knitting!!

A while back I wrote a post about a knitted shawl that I made for Aniyah.

Heartwarmer Knitted Shawl

This time around I knitted one for Aria, but changed it up some from the original pattern, which you can find here:

http://bibliosophybooks.typepad.com/bibliosophy-art-craft-and-home/2011/04/yarn-along-new-pattern.html

or here:

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/heartwarmer-5

ImageImageImage

Instead of using buttons to close the sides, I knitted ties that go around the back.                   ImageImageImage

I did not knit the eyelet around the edges this time.  I wanted to keep it simple so I just knitted a garter stitch along the edges.               ImageImageImage

I used a self-stripping yarn purchased from Walmart and I was pleased with the results.

I love this pattern and I loved knitting it. This is a great tummy warmer and it looks adorable on.

Quick Knit Baby Shrug

I found this adorable pattern on Pinterest and followed the link to Ravelry. You can grab the pattern for free here:

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/quick-knit-baby-shrug

ImageImage

The pattern is a shrug, but I wanted mine a little longer so I just keep on knitting!         ImageImageImage

I also added buttons all the way down instead of just at the top. I made the buttonholes every eighth row.                                       ImageImage

The pattern was super easy to follow and I knitted this sweater in just two evenings.

ImageImage

Once again I used one of my favorite yarns, I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby. I just happen to have enough yarn left over to make her a pair of knee-high knitted baby booties.            ImageImageImage

The skirt and the leggings were purchased at Target as was the onesie, but I dyed it a light blue.
