The weather has been so confusing! We get one or two days of 70 plus weather, then we get hit with an arctic blast and we get iced in. So it went from this . . . .                          Image

to this . . . .   in just a few days.

Being grateful for the amazing weather on the day I had Aria, we took full advantage of it and had lunch under our favorite tree.           ImageImageImage

Her eating, and me reading (and taking pictures).       ImageImageImageImageImage      Image

We have been working our way through the amazing book, One Wintry Night by Ruth Bell Graham.            ImageImageImageImage

At the end of each chapter she begs me to go on, “read one more mammy!”

Then I can only hear silence, and I turn to look . . . . . . . .  ImageImageImage

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.  Psalm 37:7a

Insects and Owls

On this Tuesday our conversation went something like this:

Aria–“Riley has sugar ants in her house. They like sugar.”

Mammy–“Wow, I guess I’m a sugar ant.”

Aria–“Well . . . I’m a sugar human.”                  ImageImageImageImage

Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”  Genesis 1:28

The Library Card

We made our way slowly. This was our new adventure.             ImageImageImage

We took our time, stopping to take pictures of the beautiful fall trees and to take advantage of the amazing weather.      ImageImageImageImage

She picked her favorite flower for me, a dandelion . . .      ImageImage

and there is always time for wishes.      Image

Then we were on our way.       ImageImageImage

Inside we were greeted by one of our favorite people.  Nelda is the Librarian at our local Library and the one that encouraged me to bring Aria to get a library card.                Image

Aria spent time looking around at all the wonderful sights and displays.             ImageImageImage

Then she paused for a few minutes to show Nelda her ballet moves.          ImageImageImageImage

(and yes her shoes are on the wrong feet)  so we pause again.         Image

Then back to the business of filling out forms for the library card.   ImageImageImageImage

And finally, mammy and Aria have new Library cards!          ImageImage

It is now time to shop around the Library.        ImageImageImageImage

With help from our dear friend Nelda and with much searching and digging we sat at a table and looked over our treasures.               ImageImageImage

With our choices made we found our way to the check out desk.     ImageImage

And we made our way home to an afternoon of reading and reading and reading.           Image

Thank you Nelda!!            Image

Some of my most treasured times are the Tuesday afternoons I spend with Aria.     ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Sukkot

The Feast of the Tabernacles is upon us.                        Image

So on our special day Aria and mammy spent our afternoon reading about Sukkot and preparing to celebrate it during our time together.   We are both learning together about the different Jewish feast and holidays. Looking deeper into the eyes of our Lord and understanding more of Him and His ways.

 ImageImageImageImage

Gumps built us a sukkah and it was set up and ready for Aria when she arrived at mammy’s house.         ImageImageImageImage

We ate our lunch in our sukkah.           ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Tomorrow night we will celebrate with our church family, but for today Aria and I celebrate this feast . . . . just the two of us.

ImageImageImageImageImageImage

“Three times you shall keep a feast to Me in the year:  You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread (you shall eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month of Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt; none shall appear before Me empty); and the Feast of Harvest, the firstfruits of your labors which you have sown in the field; and the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you have gathered in the fruit of your labors from the field.   Exodus 23:14-16

Then went up Moses (to Mount Sinai) . .  and seventy of the elders of Israel; and they saw the God of Israel . . . And upon the nobles of the children of Israel He laid not His hand; and they beheld God, and did not eat and drink.  Exodus 24:9-11

  • Lunch with Aria

“Mammy, I am starved!” Aria expressed to her mammy as she rubbed her tummy.         ImageImage

“Do you know WHY I am so hungry?” she asked me with her eyebrows raised?

“No, why are you so hungry?”   I asked, very eager to know why my little kindergartener was so famished.

    ImageImage

“It’s because of my teacher. She did not give us a good snack today.”            ImageImage

“Mammy, do you know what she gave us for a snack?”     ImageImage

“Two crackers! That’s it! Just TWO!”  She held up two little fingers to press her point home.  ImageImage

And she gobbled up her lunch!

Our first Tuesday together was perfect timing! Just in time to make challah and learn about Rosh Hashanah.       ImageImage

So Aria and I set out to make the scrumptious Jewish bread.   She made her own little loaf of challah.  She kneaded her bread and worked hard along side her mammy.

    ImageImage

While the bread was rising, she made a Rosh Hashanah mobile.

    Image

Carefully choosing the perfect color for each picture.

    ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Then, cutting out each picture and using a hole punch to make a hole so she could string it to the mobile.

    Image

    DONE!

    ImageImage

She made two Shana Tova greeting cards to give away at the feast.   Image

    Image

We listened to the sounds of a Shofar being blown on you tube, and then it was time to work on our challah again.    Image

She kneaded the bread again, then made three long snake like pieces to braid around the outside of the challah.

    ImageImage

Soon, it was ready and we set it on the oven once again to rise some more.     ImageImageImage

Aria had her bread with her dinner, but mammy’s bread is to be eaten at the Feast of the Trumpets.

    ImageImageImage

She did an awesome job making her challah and it tasted  y-u-m-m-y!  Everyone was happy with the results, especially Aria!

    ImageImage

Therefore, let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.  1 Cor.  5:8
