The Christmas Tea

As we near the day of celebration of our Lord’s birthday.Image

Let us also celebrate those we love.

Image

It is good to draw near to those who are in our midst, in our own family.

Image

Preparations have been made and the anticipation grows as each minute passes.
Image

Today, we celebrate cousins. God’s chosen family for us.

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

This year, celebrate those that surround you.

Now at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought out the Levites in all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem to celebrate the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings and singing, with cymbals and stringed instruments and harps.  Nehemiah 12:27

The Gift From Nazareth

She handed the gift to me and said, “This came from Nazareth.”Image

I held the carved piece of olive tree in my hand and my emotions overtook me.

From Nazareth? The very same Nazareth that my Lord lived and grew up in? The Carpenter that probably worked with wood just like this?

I held back the tears as my heart took it all in.Image

I held just a shred, a particle of something that Jesus may have encountered. A everyday part of His life, this olive tree. She had said that the olive trees in Israel are very old. How old I wondered? When I looked it up it said that olive trees could live for several centuries. It said they could have a life span of 2000 years. Could His hands have touched this very same tree?Image

How appropriate, this carved Nativity, here just a few days before the celebration of His birth and exactly from the place He grew up.

My heart felt a newness of joy, a connection stretching as far away as Israel as I held this new treasure in my hands. There were no words, but He knew what my heart felt, what words could not express.

Philip found Nathanael and said to him,  “We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote–Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.  John 1:45

This project took a couple of days to complete.Image

There was a lot of coloring and gluing.Image

Aria embellished most of the puppets with glitter, sparkling stars, roving and jewels.Image

The angel got silver glitter.Image

She used jewels on the the wise men.Image

Gold glitter filled this wise man’s gift.ImageImage

Sequins were also used on the wise men.ImageImage

She used roving for baby Jesus’ hair and a scrap piece of cloth and straw for the manger.Image

This is fleece from a sheep that we got locally. I washed it and let it dry before she used it.Image

After she completed the puppets, it was time for the puppet show.

Image

Using the puppets, she told us the story of the birth of Jesus.Image

Starting with  the angel visiting Mary and telling her she would have a baby, God’s Son.ImageImageImage

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign:  Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.  Isaiah 7:14

As we continue on with Advent an angel snow globe is a favorite.

We gathered everything we needed for this project. Aria picked out just the right angel at Hobby Lobby.

Image

This is what you will need:

A jar~any size will do

glycerine~a nontoxic liquid~we found ours at Hobby Lobby.

A plastic toy or ornament~just make sure it will fit inside of your jar.

glitter~we used two different kinds.

strong glue~I used E-6000~found at Hobby Lobby

water

Image

Using the strong glue, we glued the angel inside the lid a couple of days before starting this project.

Image

Pour the glycerine into the jar~use one part glycerine to two parts water.Image

Fill the rest of the jar with water.Image

Pour your glitter into the jar,Image

and stir.

Image

Put the strong glue along the inside of the lid and screw on very tightly.Image

And shake.

Aria picked out purple ribbon and I hot glued it to the bottom. I then hot glued Christmas decorations over the ribbon.Image

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”  Luke 2:13-14

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”  Matthew 2:1-2

Last Monday we woke up to snow!Image

It was 16 degrees outside at 6:00 am.Image

That’s almost 100 degrees less than it was just a few short months ago.Image

It didn’t last through the morning, but it was surely wonderful while it lasted.

He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes.   Psalm 147:16

The pattern for Aria’s hand knitted teddy bear came from the book:

Knitted Bears by Claire GarlandImage

A favorite of mine! I have knitted several bears from this book.

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.  Galatians 6:2

Our favorite thing to do is to have a tea party.
Image

We have one for every occasion.Image

We always have lots and lots of yummy treats to eat.Image

The tea is super yummy also, with loads and loads of honey.Image

This tea party is with baby Jesus, (and teddy).Image

We are celebrating something very special!Image

It’s Jesus’ birthday!                        Image                                                 Happy Birthday Jesus!!!!!Image

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;  You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.  Psalm 23:5

The Song of Mary

Image

And Mary said:

“My soul magnifies the Lord,  And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior,  For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant;  For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.Image

For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name.  And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.Image

He has shown strength with His arm;  He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

Image

He has put down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty.  Image

He has helped His servant Israel, In remembrance of His mercy, As He spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and to his seed forever.”Image

This is simply a place for me to record and share with others some of the things God is teaching me and doing in my life and the lives of those around me. I pray it glorifies God and encourages others.
