This is our very first attempt at dyeing wool.
This is corriedale wool roving.
It is very soft and it really does smell like sheep, which I totally love!
We soaked it in hot water for about fifteen minutes.
We used kool-aid to dye it. It smells very yummy!
Into the almost boiling water it goes.
We are careful to not stir the pot which will cause the wool to felt. So we gently pushed it down until all the fiber was covered with the colored water.
We set the timer for another fifteen minutes then took it off the heat and drained it. When it was cool enough for us to touch it we squeezed the water out.
We set it outside to dry in the sun
and it is ready to spin!!!
