On this Christmas day of our Lord two thousand and twelve,
for just this moment in time a calm has settled on the the earth.
The busyness of mankind has ceased.
The hustle and bustle and the running to and fro have halted.
A hallowed quiet has been planted in the hearts of mankind.
This consecrated day of our Lord serves a higher purpose than man can comprehend.
And the angels had said it, “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” (Luke 2:14)
And this blessed peace, here today, falls upon us, on this most sacred day of His birth,
fulfilling the promise that had long been told.
Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace
Silent night, holy night
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Hallelujah
Christ, the Savior is born
Christ, the Savior is born
Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love’s pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
The whole earth is at rest and quiet; Isaiah 14:7a
