It has been a while since I have been able to sew. The busy days turn into weeks, and then on into months and the time gets away from me.
I have been itching to get back at it and have actually cut out a couple of patterns, but nothing is completed yet. So I am reaching way back in the closet, about four years worth and pulling out a smocked dress that I made for Aria to wear to my nephew’s wedding.
I got the pattern at a quilt store in Fort Worth, but if you want an online link to purchase it, here is one:

Now, I am not an expert on smocking, but I have always loved it and I love to do it, so every once in a while I have to drag it all out and satisfy the girly girl in me.
The smocking is done with an off-white thread, with lazy daisy stitches done in off-white ribbon. A cluster of little pearls are sewn in the centers.
I really love piping, it gives your garments such a clean, finished look, so I used piping on both sides of the smocking, framing it, as well as around the collar.
The blue fabric was purchased at Joann Fabric.
It makes me happy to see Aniyah wearing the clothes that I made for her sister, and hopefully this dress will continue to be handed down.
Your garments did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years. Deuteronomy 8:4
