Aria wanted an Elsa dress from the movie Frozen. So this mammy set out to make it happen.
After searching for patterns, I decided it best not to pay $9 for a pattern, on top of the cost of ink to print it out. So I measured, cut and started sewing.
The fabric for the dress and corset was found on Etsy.com. It is completely lined with a thin, soft knit fabric, since Aria does not do itchy.
The cape is made out of a glittery, snowflake pattern netting, purchased at Joann fabric on the clearance rack many years ago.
The shoes and wig were purchased from Amazon.com from mommy.
All in all it turned out, but the corset has been a little problem. The children’s Elsa pattern and the other dresses that I saw attached the corset and cape to the dress. The original dress was separate from the cape and I wanted to keep it as close to the original as possible. I was also concerned that the sheer netting fabric of the bodice would tear. Since the cape is attached to the corset, it makes it a little heavy, so I used several strips of boning in the corset for strength.
She is happy though and that’s all that matters. She is now trying to talk me into making her an Incredibles outfit. Stay tuned.
