What do you get a 12 year old for her birthday. An age that dangles somewhere between beautiful girlhood and the ever changing pre-teen.
One hand still loves barbies, tea parties and games and the other packs up her beloved dolls and stores them deep in the closet.
The lines blur and ruffles and frills are no longer a part of the wardrobe and big bows and tiaras are totally unacceptable.
Public display of emotions—hugs and kisses are always discouraged. But there are still moments-in private-of cuddles and secrets told, bonding moments of heart felt laughter and contagious joy.
Embarrassment comes easily now so it’s always best to watch what you say, for these years are tender and they can break under the weight of our words.
But still . . . the need is there, even more so, to encourage and to love deeper than ever before. The fragile heart beats with modern day battles, torn between the two worlds and it’s our constant love and acceptance of the beautiful souls that will make the difference and hold them up.
Our approach changes: It’s in a look, a smile or the quiet prayers that are sent up that can change the outcome. It’s in the foundation of His love that gives “hope” and healing and gets them through.
And soon . . . glorious womanhood will flourish and shine through and it’s then that we will see the love and prayers that carries and protects the most precious hearts.
for g’ma Bert and her beloved Hannah.
Now hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:5
Absolutely perfect. Amazing insight, Great Aunt Peggy 🙂
