Knitted Baby Booties

It all started when I saw a pair of knitted baby booties online. I fell in love with them and just had to have them for my dimpled darlin baby.

I clicked on the image and discovered that those tiny little knitted booties costs $48 plus shipping! Being way out of my budget I began a search for a knitting pattern that would be similar to the booties that I loved so much, but without the price tag.

After days of pouring over the internet I finally found a pattern on etsy.com  (one of my most favorite online stores EVER!)

Here is the amazing pattern, but while you are there check out the rest of her patterns, they are wonderful.

My new favorite yarn is I Love This Yarn and you can find it at Hobby Lobby. They have every color you can imagine at a low price. They have the most vibrant, jewel tone colors and I can not get enough.                       ImageImageImage

I love this pink color so much that I made three pairs of booties and a scarf out the same color.   ImageImageImage

Since baby is just learning how to walk and my floors are all hard floors, I added a piece of nonskid shelf liner on the bottom of the sole. I just sewed it on the bottom with the same yarn, using the holes in the liner.         ImageImage

I did have a hard time with sizing with this pattern since I am not one to gauge my projects–don’t judge me—so I had to adjust the sizing to make it a perfect fit for her.     ImageImage

But you can bet that this little girl will have a pair of these booties every winter–in a jewel tone color.

Heartwarmer Knitted Shawl

O.K, I know I say this every time but I am REALLY loving this knitted shawl pattern by Bibliosophy Books. The pattern can be found here:

I love shawls (gives me that pioneer feeling) and I have been looking for a pattern to knit for my girls, so when I found this one I was so excited.                ImageImage

So this wonderful little shawl wraps and buttons to hold it in place and is the perfect fit for my dimpled darling baby.        Image

I am well into knitting one for Aria also.         ImageImage

SEVERAL weeks ago I posted pictures of the Milse dress that I knitted for Aniyah. Image

So, I have spent the last few weeks working on one for her big sister Aria.   ImageImageImage

I am not one to use expensive yarn on big projects so I am loving the Sheep(ish) yarn by Vickie Howell. I got it at Jo-Ann’s for around $4 a skein.            Image

I am still working on jogless stripes, but so far it’s not happening. But as you can see, it does get a little better with each stripe.

I really do love this pattern by Just Jussi. It is knitted in the round and it is easy to follow.

You can get the pattern here:

A Miracle for Jackie Savannah

The prayer request came out mid August, along with a prayer page on face book.  A call to pray for “A Miracle for Jackie Savannah.”

“Jackie was born at 27 weeks & it has been touch & go for her, she needs many prayers & a miracle. We know God is watching over her & her parents.”Image

And it starts; the lifting up to God this most precious gift, this “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Ps 139:14 ) miracle from the Father Himself.

Image

And so many join together in the great choir of prayer, and the voices can be heard all around and the voices reach the throne of God, and “He inclines His ear and He hears our voice.”(Ps 116:2)

Image

And everyday, with great anticipation and expectation, the search is on to find an update on this beloved baby girl.

Image

And now, two months later, the miracle that we have all been praying for comes:

“Update: Jackie moved to the last room they go to before going home, she’s on level 1 O2 weighs 5lbs 7ozs! Thanks so much for all the prayers!”

And how amazing is our Lord?

“He crowns the years with His goodness and His paths drip with abundance” (Ps 65:11) and we have all been witness to this great, miraculous gift.

Image

As the prayers continue to rise up to our Lord, my gift to baby Jackie is a head covering.  A covering for warmth, a covering of love, but mostly . . . a prayer covering . . . a covering of His precious Words heaped upon her beautiful little head.    ImageImageImage

The Knitted Sweater

I have knitted little sweaters for my granddaughters but this is the first time I have knitted one for myself.   ImageImage

I am really loving the 3/4 sleeves that are “in” right now and I found this amazing pattern here:

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/safire

ImageImage

I adapted the pattern . . . .

OK!  So I totally messed it up, but it ended up ok. I was too far into the pattern when I realized that I was not doing it right, so I  recalculated and kept right on knitting.      ImageImageImage

I have already purchased more yarn to try it again.

I can’t wait to wear my new sweater, just waiting for the Texas 108 degree weather to pass and the cooler weather to set in.            ImageImageImage

Knitted Scarf

Sometimes I start a project and I am not really sure who it will be for, but I knit and pray for the person that will be covered with this gift.  ImageImageImage

My goal is to take it to Hungary with me next month and let my Lord tell me who to give it to.

ImageImageImage

This is a free pattern by all free knitting and you can get it here:

http://www.allfreeknitting.com/Knit-Scarves/tomato-palindrome-scarf              ImageImageImageImage

So now, after weeks of knitting and praying, this gift is ready to be packed away in my suitcase, ready to be given to that one special person that it was intended for.         ImageImage

But it’s not the gift that really matters at all, but the countless prayers that have been poured out over this person, covering them and holding fast as they cover themselves with the gift.    ImageImage

For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established–that is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. Romans 1:11-12
