Now the manna was like coriander seed, and its color like the color of bdellium. The people went about and gathered it, ground it on millstones or beat it in the mortar, cooked it in pans, and made cakes of it; and its taste was like the taste of pastry prepared with oil. Numbers 11:7-8

“Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night.
And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.
Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.”
And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.
Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child.
And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.

Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.
Luke 2:8-20

Waiting in the audience for the musical to start.

And there she is . . . . our star!
Then David and all Israel played music before God with all their might, with singing, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on cymbals, and with trumpets. 1Chronicles 13:8

In an age of instant gratification, where a new toy is just the short drive to Wal Mart away.
Where a new video game is just the length of a credit card and waiting is something that was only done in the past.
The anticipation and excitement of getting that special present for Christmas, the one thing you had waited for and wanted for so long, is now clouded and distorted by the greed and desire to possess it all.
Now is the mindset that more is better and even more is best and where in the world is our treasure?
Hand me downs are unheard of for we are far above owning cast offs.
In this time, here and now, our children know very little of laboring with their hands. Of the satisfaction that comes with the physical exertion and toil to achieve the desired goal.
It started with us you know, the ones that love them beyond words, wanting to give . . . give . . . give, until the gift was not enough. Until our message to them was the more you own the happier you get.
And didn’t He warn us to not conform to this world? (Romans 12:2)
And I ask you again, where is our real treasure?
Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack; Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up your cross, and follow Me.” Mark 10:21

As we read the different stories on the Nativity to Aria, she play acts them out with one of the several Nativity sets we have. We do this often!
This is one of my favorites, given to me by the Librarian at the school where I work.

Aria loves the CHRIST~mas story, and takes great joy and delight in all the many ways of learning of how our Savior left His throne in heaven and wrapped Himself (our gift) in flesh, and all for us!
And the WORD became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

When I looked up Advent this is what is said: the coming or the arrival of a notable event, especially of something extremely important.
My daughter, Andrea and I have done Advent with Aria for the past few years.
So this year, we would like to share with you just a few of the things that we do with Aria leading up to our precious Lord’s birthday, CHRISTmas!
Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.” Luke 1:30-31

This is Aria’s Laura dress and apron.
I adapted this pattern to make it.
Aria’s Laura doll with matching clothes.
This is the pattern I used.
Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 1:13

This is simply a place for me to record and share with others some of the things God is teaching me and doing in my life and the lives of those around me. I pray it glorifies God and encourages others.
