Vintage Pattern

I am loving this pattern.     Image

I actually made this dress about four years ago for Aria and now Aniyah is wearing it.

ImageImageImage

I really love this fabric, it has been one of my favorites! I also purchased the same fabric in pink. It is pretty sheer, so I had to line the dress but I didn’t line the sleeves or yoke.

ImageImageImage

I sewed matching cording along the bottom of the rounded yoke and at the bottom of the sleeves.       ImageImageImage

I finished it off with three pearl buttons that close in the back.       ImageImageImageImage

Vintage Pattern

I am pretty sure that I made this same dress for the girl’s mama twenty seven years ago.  And yes, that is her name written on the front of the pattern.

 Image

I had to adjust the pattern size for the dresses. This pattern is a size 2 and I needed a size 5 and 6 month.

 ImageImage

I only used the pattern for the bodice.

Image

Image

For the skirt, I measured and cut the desired length.

Image

They each have a belt made out of ribbon and topped with a fabric flower.

ImageImage

I also used ribbon for the straps.

Image

The bodice fabric is made out a tank top found in the women’s section at Walmart.

ImageImage

The skirt fabric is from curtains that I made for my mom twenty something years ago. I have used this curtain fabric over and over again.

ImageImage

I already have plans to make a couple more of these dresses.

Vintage Pattern

A total winner!

Image

I have had an idea swimming around in my head for a long time now and was delighted to find this pattern in the size I needed tucked away with my vintage patterns.

ImageImage

I changed the pattern and will blog about it with a sewing tutorial later on.

ImageImage

I made the dress out of a white cotton knit, covering the bodice with an off-white lace overlay.

ImageImage

Starting at the bottom of the dress I began to sew on layers of vintage lace and tulle, alternating the white and off-white.

ImageImage

I wanted some color, so I added a blue bias around the neck and arms.

ImageImage

I used vintage lace running down the length of the dress and sewed on off-white pearl beads down the bodice.

I topped it off with a vintage beaded necklace.

Vintage Pattern

Here is a pattern that I am not that crazy about.  Image

It looks cute enough on the pattern and there were some things I liked but I will not make it again.

Image

I gathered the skirt instead of pleating it like the pattern shows.Image

What I didn’t like about it is the sleeves are sewn into the bodice and the skirt, so when she lifts her arms it spreads out and looks huge.     Image

I did however LOVE the fabric.  The bodice was a remnant that I got at the flea market.Image

There was just enough for the bodice and I love how the circle trim works as a cuff on the sleeve.

Image

The skirt is a thin white cotton that has ovals all over it, and is lined.   Image

The hot pink ribbon tops off the color combination.

Another winner!   Image

I have been wanting to make this pattern for a few years now.  ImageImage

It was super easy to sew and I absolutely love how it turned out.   ImageImage

It reminds me of ‘I Love Lucy’ and as you can imagine Aria was happy.   ImageImage

The fabric was some that I have had for years and I felt like it had that vintage look to it.   ImageImageImage

The trim is vintage itself, I got is at a yard sale many many years ago.  ImageImage

The buttons are also old and are very special to us, they belonged to my husbands mother, we lost her a few years ago. I have her sewing box and whenever I sew for the girls I always try to use her buttons. I never use them on anything I sell.   ImageImage

Included with the pattern were slippers.  Image

This is yet another pattern that I will make again. Image

Vintage Pattern

O.K, so this was not my favorite vintage pattern.  I tend to like the older ones better and try to stay away from the “trendy” patterns.

Just for the record though—I LOVE the hat!Image

The hearts on the pattern just seem to shout out “VALENTINES” and I was not sure how to get away from that and make it into something she could wear anytime. Image

I also was taking a little bit of a risk because I was making the girls matching outfits and Aria’s was already done, so I was a little worried that I would end up not liking this one.Image

But I am grateful that embellishments are “in” and the more the better for me.Image

I used the same fabric for both outfits, although Aria’s was a pleated skirt and Aniyah’s was overalls.

Image

I also trimmed Aniyah’s shirt with the same soft pink rope cording, around the sleeve edge and the collar edge. However Aria’s did not have any lace or flowers on hers.

Image

I made Aniyah a matching headband out of the same fabric. I ran a piece of elastic inside the headband then added the flowers.

ImageImage

I was happy how this little jumper turned out. Even though you can see the shape of the heart it doesn’t have to be a Valentine outfit.

Image

They wore them to church this past Sunday and they looked so adorable!

Vintage Pattern

I used a combination of two patterns to get the desired look I wanted for this pleated skirt.

Image

I wanted the skirt to have pleats, but I loved the waistband on this skirt so I adjusted the pleats to fit.

Image

I was happy with the results and Aria was too.Image

I love the crisp classic look of pleats and I can only seem to find what I like in the vintage patterns.

ImageImage

The eyelet shirt is from the same vintage pattern that I have used so often.Image

I trimmed the collar edge, the front edge and the cuffs with a soft pink rope cording.

Image

I sewed the buttons on with a soft pink thread.

Vintage Pattern

Image

This is one of my most favorite vintage patterns ever!!!Image

Ok, I know I say that every time, but this time I mean it. I love the look and style of this pattern  and it fit so well.

Image

I made this for her two years ago and she still wears it. I have made two of these and I will be making one for little miss Aniyah also.Image

The outside is made out of different minky fabrics. The collar and cuffs were made out of the long minky fur and it is lined with a soft flannel that is covered with pink elephants. It buttons up the front with large pink buttons.

This robe is so soft and warm, however, minky fabric is not cheap, and it did take quite a bit of it to make this robe, the only down side for me.

Vintage Pattern

Image

This is the pattern I used to make Aria’s Easter dress in 2011.Image

I had to enlarge the pattern to fit Aria.

Image

I used an off white linen fabric with huge blue embroidered flowers that I got at the flea market for $2.50 a yard.

Image

I trimmed the neck edge and sleeves with blue bias tape and used it to trim out the waist.  I also trimmed the coat collar with the same bias tape.

ImageImage

I loved the dress from this pattern but I wasn’t that crazy about the coat.  There was not a shoulder seam so the sleeve and front and sleeve and back were one piece, therefore it was not a great fit.

ImageImageImage

But Aria was pleased with her dress and that made mammy happy too.

ImageImage

I will probably make the dress again, but will pass on the coat.

Vintage Pattern

I have used this vintage jumper pattern twice.Image

The pattern is a size 4, so the first time I made it I cut it down to a size 3.

Image

I used a baby corduroy for the jumper, it presses well and makes great pleats.

Image

I used a cotton blend for the shirt, trimmed with the same corduroy on the sleeves.Image

This time I needed a size 5, so I had to increase the pattern.Image

Once again I used a baby corduroy, I just love how the pleats lay with this fabric. It also makes the jumper more for fall and winter.Image

The jumper buttons up the back.Image

This is the vintage pattern I used for the blouse. Image

This time the blouse has gathered sleeves, made in a cotton print and trimmed with the same fabric from the jumper.Image

I also trimmed the collar with the same fabric.

Image

Aria is always so happy when I make her something.

Image

And it makes it all worth it!
